Gear Operated Butterfly Valve

Gear operated valve regulates the flow of liquid or gas. The disc of the worm gear operated butterfly valve is installed in the diameter direction of the pipeline. In the cylindrical passage of the butterfly valve body, the disc-shaped butterfly disc rotates around the axis and the rotation angle is between 0° and 90°. When the rotation reaches 90°, the gear operated valve is in a fully open state. Gear drive has the advantage of saving labor, being easy to operation and longer service life.

Gear Operated Butterfly Valve VS Lever Operated Butterfly Valve

1. Material (Similarity)

The gear operated valve (Gear Operated Butterfly Valve and Lever Operated Butterfly Valve) is made of cast iron, ductile iron, cast steel as well as stainless steel.

2. Design Pressure (Similarity)

The gear operated valve (Gear Operated Butterfly Valve and Lever Operated Butterfly Valve) has low pressure, DIN PN10/16, ASTM CL125/CL150.

3. Range of Applications

Both Gear Operated Butterfly Valve and Lever Operated Butterfly Valve are used in a number of applications for industrial sectors that include food processing, pharmaceutical, chemical, oil, gas, water as well as wastewater management.

4. Operation Difference

The two manual methods are lever and gear operation. Lever operated butterfly valves use a quarter-turn lever. It is the simplest form of butterfly valve operation, but it is impractical and difficult for larger valves.

Gear operation is another common method for opening and closing butterfly valves. This method is used for all different types of gear-operated valve, both big and small. Gear wheel makes butterfly valve operation even easier.

Gear Operated Butterfly Valve FAQ

Q 1. How to Open and Close the Gear Operated Butterfly Valve?
A.

Rotate the wheel 90° clockwise, the gear-operated valve can be closed and the wheel rotates 90° counterclockwise to open the gear-operated valve.

Q 2. Can Our Clients Change the Operation Method of Butterfly Valves from the Lever to Worm Gear by Themselves?
A.

Yes. The top mounting pad of our butterfly valves is drilled as per ISO5211. Clients can install the worm gear from their side without any problem.
